Sir Alex Ferguson approached Pep Guardiola about Man Utd job in 2012 before settling for Moyes

David Moyes seems not to be Sir Alex Ferguson's first Choice of successorship, the former Red Devils boss writes in his new book.
Sir Alex Ferguson said he first tempted Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola about succeeding him as Manchester United boss before finally going for His fellow country man David Moyes, the Scot wrote in his new publication.

In his new writings going to be published on Tuesday, the Man United Legend says he met Guardiola before his last season as United boss started in 2012.

During that time, Guardiola just started his one year sabbatical after parting ways with Barcelona. And despite Ferguson's pressure he choose Bayern Munich the following summer.

"I had dinner with Pep Guardiola in New York in 2012, but couldn't make him any direct proposal because retirement was not on my agenda at that point," Ferguson wrote.

"He had already won an enviable number of trophies with Barcelona... and I admired him greatly. I asked Pep to phone me before he accepted an offer from another club, but he didn't and wound up joining Bayern Munich in July 2013."
