Inter Milan wants Liverpool to pay €25million for Kovacic

Liverpool are really keen on signing Mateo Kovacic according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport. They claim on Friday in their newspaper edition that Liverpool initially contacted Inter Milan with a bid of €10m but had that rejected immediately, which was probably fair enough - trying to get the Croatian midfielder for just £7m sounds a little on the cheeky side.

Gazzetta say that Liverpool returned with a second bid of €18m, which works out to be about £13m. Inter Milan paid €16m for the player so it would represent a small profit. Still, Inter Milan have turned that bid down too. According to Gazzetta the Italian club want €25m, which works out to be around £18m.
That wouldn't have sounded a bad price a while ago, Kovacic has long been considered one of the best young midfielders in European football but he's fallen out of a favour a little at Inter Milan. Roberto Mancini doesn't seem quite as fond of the player as previous managers have been and given it's repeatedly stated in Italy that a sale could be on the cards, Inter Milan may have to bring their price down if they want to achieve that.
Mancini has his own targets and they're not set to come cheap, especially when wages are added to the equation. Yaya Toure is still a wish for the former Manchester City manager and Gazzetta say that Inter Milan have even spoken to Bayern Munich about the possibility of taking Mehdi Benatia. Other targets include Liverpool's Lucas, long linked with Inter, and Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who would be brought in to replace Samir Handanovic.
