Ferguson's 2010 contract ensured none of his players earned more than him

In 2010, Manchester United former boss Sir Alex Ferguson penned a contract that will ensures he earns an upper salary than any of his players any time, Ferguson revealed this in his latest book writings.

In his latest book, that will be published on tuesday, Ferguson further said that the Red Devils owners, the Glazer family and then chief executive David Gill brought forward the question of his opinion on Wayne Rooney's pay rise when he signs a new deal following the negotiation which took place when the media linked him with other clubs.

The Scot wrote: "I told them I did not think it fair that Rooney should earn twice what I made and [joint-chairman] Joel Glazer immediately said: 'I totally agree with you but what should we do?'"

"It was simple. We just agreed that no player should be paid more than me.

"We agreed in less time than it takes to read the previous sentence."
