RAFAEL BENITEZ has hinted that Real Madrid have ended their pursuit of Man United keeper David De Gea.

Manchester United offered a mouth watering deal worth £200,000 a week to David De Gea, but the Spaniard who is seen as No.1 transfer target for Real Madrid this summer rejected the deal with hopes of signing for Madrid
after their former No.1 switched Iker Casillas switched sides to Porto.

The Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has shown that he is desperate to sign the Spanish shot stopper and is willing to cough out £35 million to make sure the Spaniard moves to Bernabeu.

There have been wide reports that Manchester United have persuaded De Gea to reject Real Madrid and stay in Manchester.

The new Madrid coach Rafael Benitez, who was Carlo Ancelotti's successor after he was shown the exit door in june, WAS an admirer of De Gea, but has HINTED he is no longer interested in securing the signature of the goalkeeper who hasn't make any appearance for Manchester United this season.

Speaking in a short interview after Madrid's defeat to Galatasaray, Benitez said "Keylor had a great game. I have very good goalkeepers."

"I'm delighted with all three of them and I'll be working with them to the full."
