Aston Villa opens Adebayor talks with Tottenham

Aston Villa have made an enquiry from Tottenham over the ability of Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

With their star striker Christian Benteke set to be confirmed by Liverpool after activating his £32.5m buyout clause in his contract, Villa needs find a replacement for the striker.

Adebayor's huge wage demands may be an obstruction for the deal, but the striker who has gone behind in the pecking order at Spurs last season might need to change career grounds and play under his former manager.

Adebayor scored 11 goals under sheerwood when he was appointed to be Spurs manager in December 2013, rewarding him for recalling him into the 1st team fold.

"We know he is one of best in league and when he performs at his best," said Sherwood during Adebayor's revival under his watch at Spurs. "He is a real handful for any defender and is close to unstoppable at times."

Adebayor has had personal problems off the pitch, which has affected his form on the pitch which led to him making only three premier League appearances in 2015. Sherwood could help Adebayor steer up his career again to the top.
