Watford linked with Brazilian midfielder Paulinho

It would appear that Paulinho has gone from being one of Brazil’s key midfielders, when he signed for Spurs, to a player now interesting Watford, just promoted to the Premier League from the Championship.

Brought in during a heady summer two years ago, with Spurs flush from the impending Gareth Bale money from Real Madrid, Paulinho has endured a poor spell at White Hart Lane and looks set to leave the club this summer.

Reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Watford are keen on bringing Paulinho to Vicarage Road.

Last summer the likes of Roma and Inter Milan were keen on Paulinho, in another sign of just how far the Brazilian has fallen during his time in England.

Di Marzio adds that there are ongoing contacts between Spurs and Watford, as the clubs discuss a potential transfer of Paulinho.

Towards the end of last season, Paulinho began to be more involved in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans but the Brazilian never truly lit up White Hart Lane with performances like those at the Confederations Cup in 2013.

Were Paulinho to join Watford, he would join up with former Spur and fellow Brazilian Heurelho Gomes.
