RVP may leave Manchester United if wife approves

The Dutchman’s fallen behind in the pecking order under Louis van Gaal, and his situation was exacerbated towards the end of the season when he was relieved of penalty duties.

Van Persie says that Euro 2016 is a big factor for him, and that he wants to be playing regularly in the buildup to that tournament in order to cement his place in the Oranje squad.

But RVP says that the decision of whether to stay or go won’t be all down to him, and that his wife will be the one who has the final say.

Having raised son Shaqueel in Manchester – who now plays for Man City Youths – Van Persie has strong roots in England, and he’s clearly reluctant to uproot everything for the sake of his own career.
