Liverpool on course to beat Manchester United to the signing of RobertoFirmino

Liverpool fans are getting very excited right now, following a report from major Brazilian website Globoesporte.

According to Globoesporte, Liverpool are close to an agreement for one of Brazil’s stars at the ongoing Copa America: Roberto Firmino.

Earlier this summer Firmino’s agent confirmed the Brazilian attacker would be leaving German side Hoffenheim for England, but refused to reveal which club.

Globoesporte confirm that Liverpool appear to have the edge over both Manchester United and Manchester City in the race for Firmino.

Manchester United were thought to be favourites just a couple of weeks ago but appear to be setting their sights on Lazio’s Felipe Anderson.

Liverpool’s move for Firmino now depends on negotiations between Liverpool and Hoffenheim, reports Globoesporte, usually a very good source for transfer news from Brazil.

Firmino will cost 25 million euros and is expected to sign a five-year-deal at Anfield, should the move take place.

Roberto Firmino scored seven goals in 33 matches for Hoffenheim in 2014/2015 and would join up with Brazilian team mate Philippe Coutinho at Anfield.

The 23-year-old attacker scored for Brazil on Sunday in the 2-1 win over Venezuela.
