De Gea's agent wants to complete his transfer within days.

Jorge Mendes plans to complete the transfer of David De Gea to Real Madrid within days. So things are imminent, again. The move has been reported as almost going through repeatedly and in all honesty the claims from the Spanish media now appear to be more in hope than expectation.

Edward Woodward's clamour for anything Real Madrid has either actually worked into creating a huge crisis at the Spanish club or has had that perceived effect through the media. Either way, the pressure at Real Madrid right now gives the possibility that something silly could happen, and from the Spanish club's perspective that's selling someone they don't want to and using them to push through the De Gea deal.

If on one side the Real Madrid president has Woodward pushing him, on the other side he has Jorge Mendes. Spanish newspaper AS report on Wednesday that De Gea has told Mendes he doesn't want to have to return to Manchester United at the beginning of July. De Gea hasn't exactly shown the courage of a lion in his attempts to push a Madrid move and facing up back at Carrington isn't something he's looking forward to. Just how much he fears that could mean just how much further leverage Woodward can get.

De Gea has had personal terms agreed with Madrid for several weeks, say AS, but he's still quivering over making an official transfer request to Manchester United and he's also reluctant to speak out. That can't be out of respect for the club, if it was he wouldn't have agreed personal terms elsewhere!
