Breaking: Sergio Ramos submits transfer Request to RealMadrid

Reports linking Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos with a move to Manchester United have been bountiful over the past three days.

Manchester United fans are now expected to sit up and take notice after The Guardian’s Sid Lowe claimed Sergio Ramos today told Real Madrid he wants to leave the club.

The well-respected, Madrid based journalist (who rarely gossips) said Sergio Ramos had a meeting at the club’s Valdebebas training ground on Wednesday morning.

Talks over a new contract appear to have broken down with ‘Los Blancos’ unwilling to offer Sergio Ramos the €10m annual salary which he believes he deserves.

Currently on €6m a year, Manchester United’s Louis van Gaal has registered interest in the 29 year old defender and this news may tempt him to make an opening offer.

Sid Lowe believes a deal involving David De Gea could take place although Real Madrid are likely to, at least initially, put a large price tag on his head.

The central defender has been with Real Madrid for 10 years since signing from Sevilla for €27m in 2005.
