Arda Turan wants Chelsea move

It will come as no surprise to Chelsea supporters that their club has been heavily linked with Arda Turan by Spanish newspaper AS on Thursday. On Wednesday the same newspaper had carried comments from the player's agent saying a transfer to England was on the cards.

Turan's agent Ahmet Bulut had told AS "He intends to leave Spain this summer. His will is going out to play in the Premiership, that is at this time the way he would like to continue his career. Discussions are under way with three teams and at the moment I cannot say the names, but they are the best of England and European football."

If the best in England comment was to be taken literally then that club would be Chelsea, Premier League champions. Even without that link, Turan plays for Atletico and Chelsea is increasingly seen as the place their best players go to. AS say that Turan sees Chelsea as his first destination and the newspaper reckon Jose Mourinho will be keen because he knows what Turan can do from his time managing city rivals Real Madrid.

Inevitably, Filipe Luis is brought into the situation and AS claim that a deal could be done with the two men swapping clubs, with Atletico surely wanting some cash too. That move would then see Chelsea intensify their recruitment of another left back and AS say that Mourinho has given his blessing to the Filipe Luis transfer, perhaps as part of a swap, because he believes he can get a replacement.

Given that AS spoke to Turan's agent, the claim that Chelsea are the player's first choice could hold even more weight, and whilst we wouldn't be surprised if Filipe Luis went back to Atletico... do Chelsea really need Turan?
