Chelsea and Bayern lock heads in battle to sign Antoine Griezmann

Spanish daily AS on Tuesday report that Chelsea and Bayern Munich are still trying to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid this summer.

Griezmann has a €65 million release clause in his Atletico Madrid contract.

Beginning with the Chelsea angle, AS note that Jose Mourinho “wants” and “likes” the French international forward, and the Blues have the financial muscle to make the deal happen.

Moreover, AS say that Griezmann would be a huge addition for the Blues as the Special One tries to build a team capable of winning the Champions League, while the player himself could double his salary by moving to Stamford Bridge.

Turning to Bayern Munich, the Bavarians appear even more eager to land the 24-year-old striker.

Pep Guardiola is reported to have watched Griezmann during this season’s Champions League match between Atleti and Bayer Leverkusen, while AS also detail that “Bayern have enough money to cope with the operation”.

As for Atleti, however, AS are certain that the Rojiblancos are unwilling to sell Griezmann at any cost, while at the same time it is claimed that “Griezmann could be one of the soap operas this summer”.

Griezmann scored 22 goals in 37 La Liga games in 2014-15.
