Spurs offers €13million for Marseille midfielder Imbula {RMC Sport}

The chase for Marseille midfielder Gianelli Imbula is seriously heating up at the moment with the “new Claude Makelele” in high demand.

French website RMC Sport have reported that Tottenham are the latest club to enquire about Imbula, and offered 13 million euros for the 22-year-old defensive midfielder.

The Spurs offer was immediately rejected for Imbula who is also being seriously courted by both Inter Milan and FC Porto.

Imbula seems closest to Inter Milan, who will take Imbula on loan for one season with a compulsory purchase option of 19 million euros.

Whilst Imbula has also agreed personal terms with Inter, the French midfielder is now deciding over a move to Italy.

FC Porto have bid 22 million euros which makes Tottenham’s offer look like a punt from the north London side.

RMC Sport suggest that Spurs could well return with a bigger offer for Imbula this week.

The midfielder is keen to get his move away from Marseille correct, especially with Euro 2016 in France on the horizon.

Whilst Spurs may fail to sign Imbula it does seem certain that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are on the lookout for a defensive midfielder to partner Nabil Bentaleb next season.
