Arsenal to swap Campbell in William Carvalho deal

Arsenal’s Costa Rican international Joel Campbell graces the front cover of Portuguese daily O Jogo on Wednesday, in a transfer story relating to Sporting Lisbon.

Campbell has been farmed out to Spanish side Villarreal this season, however in 30 matches for the Yellow Submarine this campaign the Arsenal man has failed to scored a single goal.
According to O Jogo, 22-year-old Campbell, who looks likely to never cut the mustard at Arsenal, is now a target for Sporting, and the Lions are discussing a deal with the Gunners in which highly-rated defensive midfielder William Carvalho moves to the Emirates.
O Jogo say that Arsenal are will to business to offload Campbell in a deal that includes Carvalho, who is labelled a “priority” target for Arsene Wenger for next season.
23-year-old Portugal international William has played over 50 games for Sporting in the past two seasons, scoring five times in the domestic top flight.
Sticking with Sporting, O Jogo also detail the Lions’ plans to sign Campbell’s Costa Rican international team mate Jake Beckford, who currently plays for local side Limon after a period in America with the Carolina Rail Hawks.
