Robin van Persie has agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce [Guardian]

The Guardian report that the Van Persie's agent has been in Istanbul for the past two days thrashing out a deal with the Super Lig club, and that a four year deal is now set in principle.

This corroborates with Pierre van Hooijdonk’s story, who claimed last week that United were secretly making plans to sell Van Persie to the Turkish club.

Amid all the speculation linking him with a move away from Old Trafford (Lazio and Juventus expressed interest in June), Van Persie had been stoically insisting that he saw his future at United, but it appears that privately he had accepted that he’d fallen behind in the pecking order.

Having made a brilliant start to his United career in 2012-13, firing United to the title in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season, the Dutchman graudally lost form over the following two seasons, through a combination of repetitive injuries and general decline.

He scored just 10 Premier League goals last season, and never manged to fully gain the confidence of new manager Louis van Gaal.
