Breaking; Barcelona officially sign Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid

Barcelona have officially completed the signing of Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid.

The Catalan club announced that a deal was done on social media tonight, even posting a picture of Turan wearing their new kit.

The Turkish attacker made it clear that his intention was to leave Atletico at the start of the summer, leaving media to speculate where his next destination would be.

Many presumed that Turan might opt for a go at the Premier League with Manchester United and Chelsea linked to him.

But instead he opted to remain in Spain and play for Barcelona. The fee for Turan is said to be €35 million as he signs a five-year contract with the Catalan giants.

He won’t be able to appear for Barcelona competitively until January due to their transfer ban, but Turan might be thankful for the rest after an exhausting spell at the Calderon.

A key player for Diego Simeone, Turan is known for being a creative player but is also an industrious midfielder who is well aware of his defensive responsibilities.

One odd thing to take note of in Barcelona’s official statement is that the club stresses they retain the right to sell Turan before July 20!

This is because a new club president will be elected before then and the club want to give that man the option of passing on Turan, even after only completing the deal. Strange.
