Man United adds Karim Benzema on their list

Louis van Gaal is gearing up for another big summer to make a run at the Premier League title and find success in Europe. Yesterday, Transfer Talk reported that, 50 years of history aside, the Dutch boss was still after Liverpool's Raheem Sterling. Today, it's Frenchman Karim Benzema that's in Van Gaal's crosshairs, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Real Madrid forward was a catalyst for his club when he was on the field. The 27-year-old notched 15 goals and 10 assists for los Blancos, but missed chunks of time at the end of the year when he was arguably needed most.

The News reports that United chief executive Ed Woodward was seen with Benzema's agent at The Savoy hotel in London on Wednesday evening and that United are readying a £40m bid for Benzema to help add some more punch to a somewhat listless attack during Van Gaal's first year on the sideline.
