Mendes gets things done, and that's why clubs love him. The Portuguese press say Mendes flew into London on Friday with Benfica president Filipe Luis Vieira. The purpose of their trip is to sell both Nicolas Gaitan and Eduardo Salvio. Both are Argentine wingers and Manchester United have been linked with the pair. It's Gaitan who has enjoyed, and deserved, the most attention from Manchester United according to reports and the Old Trafford club is one of several which Mendes is going try and close a deal for Gaitan to join. The other two are Chelsea and Manchester City.
Gaitan has a buyout clause of €35m, which converts to around £25m. He's been rumoured to be leaving Benfica for years but never kicked his feet enough to get a transfer and always continued to perform well on the pitch for the Portuguese side. The Argentine international will be a good signing for someone. He's also been linked with Valencia but it would be odd to fly to England to conclude a deal with a Spanish club.
Given that Manchester United have already signed Memphis Depay, Mendes may be too late with this one, but it'll be interesting to see how things develop.
