Breaking: Spanish fans calls for Fabregas national team ban.

Cesc Fabregas has perhaps inadvertently found himself at the centre of controversy in Spain. The midfielder's excellent season with Chelsea has been widely
praised by the Spanish media and his assist record is something which is continually being brought up to demonstrate just how well he's doing in the Premier League. It's a source of pride for the Spanish media and this time around there's no undertone of his stay in England being a short one before a return to La Liga.
Given all of the Fabregas love in Spain, it's a little disappointing he's being vilified by some fans. Catalan newspaper Sport explain on Tuesday that there's been outrage among some fans at Fabregas posting a Premier League celebration photograph of him draped in the Catalan flag. Sport say there have been calls from fans to have Fabregas banned from the Spanish national team, with the angriest clearly feeling his use of the Catalan flag was a direct insult to the Spanish.
Catalan independence movements have been gaining momentum in recent years and that's obviously made the situation a little more tender. It all seems a little over the top, when Spain won the World Cup there were players waving Catalan flags without too much of a fuss being made, nobody then wanted the World Cup handing back and some of the country's most important players banned. Fabregas surely didn't mean to cause such a stir.
