Arsene Wenger accused Manchester United of trying to Buy their way to success.

The Arsenal boss have accused Manchester United Authorities of abandoning the traditions set by Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson and trying to buy their way to success.

Arsene Wenger has likened Louis van Gaal’s huge money spending transfers over the last two summers lack of patience at Old Trafford, the Manchester Evening News report.

So far this summer, United have splashed around £75m on Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Matteo Darmian dolling out £150m 12 months ago.

Whereas home-grown players in the likes of Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley were sent away.

However Wenger thinks United are turning away from their glorious rich tradition of building within.

“You can take Barcelona or Man United, who had a generation and built their success on players who came from within,” he said.

“These are our values and it is our DNA and it’s important we keep that."

“With United’s success they have created huge financial resources and today there is no patience for them to continue to do what they did — and they have the financial resources to go with a different policy."

Class of 92: The youth team from the early 90s formed the core of United's success for over a decade
“As well, they do not have available the players like Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and David Beckham inside the club, because youth talent is spread more through 20 clubs than it was 20 years ago.”

United’s had a reputation for developing young talented players which was built on the Busby Babes, while Ferguson won the Treble with home-grown stars like Giggs, Scholes, Beckham and the Neville brothers.
